Bonson at ProPak Asia: Seeing RePlay™ on the International Stage

There’s something special about travelling across the world to attend one of Asia’s largest processing and packaging exhibitions, only to discover a home-grown project being showcased among some of the region’s most innovative packaging solutions.
This week, members of the Bonson Packaging team visited ProPak Asia 2026 in Bangkok, where thousands of packaging, manufacturing, processing, and sustainability professionals have gathered to explore the latest developments shaping the future of our industry.
Among the many highlights of the event was the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) display featuring finalists from the 2026 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards.
We were incredibly proud and excited to see the Bonson RePlay™ Returnable System featured alongside some of the most innovative packaging projects from across Australia and New Zealand.

A Recognition of Innovation and Collaboration
RePlay™ was developed to challenge the traditional single-use packaging model by providing a practical, scalable returnable packaging system for foodservice applications.
The system allows customers to borrow a reusable container, enjoy their meal, and conveniently return the container for professional cleaning and reuse. By keeping valuable packaging in circulation for longer, RePlay™ aims to reduce reliance on single-use packaging while maintaining the convenience consumers expect.
Seeing RePlay™ represented on an international stage was a proud moment for our team and a reminder of how much can be achieved through collaboration.
The project has only been possible thanks to the support and commitment of our partners, including:
- Foodstuffs North Island
- Circularity
- Again Again
- Ministry for the Environment | Manatū mō te Taiao
- The participating New World stores and their teams – NW Birkenhead & NW Metro Willis St
- The many Bonson team members who have contributed their expertise throughout the project
Learning from Global Packaging Leaders
Beyond the excitement of seeing RePlay™ featured in the AIP display, ProPak Asia provided an excellent opportunity to explore emerging trends and technologies from around the world.
From advanced manufacturing equipment and automation systems to innovations in materials, recycling, circular economy solutions, and sustainable packaging design, the exhibition demonstrated the rapid pace of change occurring throughout the packaging sector.
Events like ProPak Asia provide valuable opportunities to learn from industry leaders, share ideas, and bring new thinking back to our customers and manufacturing operations in Australia and New Zealand.![]()

Looking Ahead
As RePlay™ continues to be trialled and refined, it is encouraging to see growing recognition for practical circular packaging solutions that can be implemented in real-world environments today.
Being recognised as a finalist in multiple PIDA Award categories was already a significant achievement. Seeing the project showcased internationally at ProPak Asia reinforces the importance of continuing to innovate and collaborate as our industry works towards more sustainable packaging systems.
A big thank you to the Australian Institute of Packaging for showcasing the PIDA finalists and providing a platform to celebrate packaging innovation from across Australasia.
We look forward to continuing the journey and sharing what comes next for RePlay™.
